My Little Valentine

I LOVE VALENTINE'S DAY. And I really, really love having a little mini valentine to share the holiday with. Emmett and I missed our daddy this year, but Jason still made sure that we felt loved and thought of from 1,250 miles away {with a bit of help from Mauri}. LOVE HIM.

Thanks for thinking of me, baby. Made my day!

I spent some quality time with my baby valentine that morning and afternoon. We snuggled, he played, I took a million pictures... you know, the usual. I loved giving him his valentine from me and his dada. It was basically all of his favorite things. He's a big fan of cars, cuddling, bubble baths, rice crispy treats, puff snacks, and playing with balloons. Also, it's  i m p o s s i b l e  for me to choose only a couple of photos to share. I know these are all kinda the same, but I don't care because I love the little personality that comes through each one!

Can you spot me in some of these photos? LOL.

^^ Don't worry, he bounced back quick.

We went upstairs for a change in scenery. Can you tell we... okay, I... didn't have much to do?

^^ THE MOST KISSABLE CHEEKS.

Being an adult child with my own child, I really expect nothing from my parents. But that doesn't mean they don't do things for me on occasion that make me feel so loved. That morning I came downstairs to a little valentine gift with a note attached from my dad. He also got these pretty carnations for the ladies in the house. {Which by the way, these may just be my new favorite flower! They are so bright and beautiful, not too pricey, and they last for weeks. Yes, weeks! There will definitely be more carnations in my future haha.} Later that afternoon my mom came home with a bag full of goodies for me and mar, and a fun valentine for Emmett. We sure do love gigi and little billy! They're the best.

With Jason hundreds of miles away in Alabama, my dad working late at the temple Thursday nights, and Taylor putting in major overtime at the firm for tax season - my mom, Lynnea, and I ended the night with a husband-less dinner at Chili's. It was fun to get together with the girls and it made me feel a tiny bit better knowing I wasn't the only one missing her main valentine that evening. It was still a great day full of surprises, flowers, chocolates, toys, eating out, too many pictures, family, and lots of LOVE. And before I wrap this up, I want to introduce someone real quick.

11 Months

Our boy turns one next month. What the heck!!! He's growing up way too fast and I'm not quite sure how to stop it. Emmett took his first official step(s) this month! He's getting more and more confident with his balance everyday. He is still the pickiest eater {he gets that from his dada} and will spit out any new food I try to feed him. You are missing out little buddy! He does love sneaking dog food whenever he gets the chance though. Yuck. Emmett figured out how to open cabinets/drawers and thinks pulling everything out of them is the funnest thing ever. He has a knack of getting into all of the things he shouldn't. He points at pictures of his mama and dada and gets the biggest grin when he watches videos of himself. When a song or beat comes on that Emmett likes, he'll start to bounce and dance. IT'S THE CUTEST THING EVER. He is becoming more of a mama's boy everyday. He loves to snuggle in bed every morning and burrows his head in my lap or chest when he's tired. He's great at taking bottles and formula, but is having a hard time switching to a sippy cup or drinking anything other than milk. He gets scared of loud sneezes, big yawns, and when the dogs bark at the doorbell. When something scares him he either cries or crawls as fast as he can in the opposite direction. And boy can he speed crawl! Emmett learned how to slide himself off of some furniture and can go down a couple of stairs backwards. His favorite thing to say is 'abah' and I'm hoping to someday know what that means ;) Our little conversations together are my favorite thing. Oh Emmett James - our happy, slobbery, picky, curious, squirmy, funny, smiley, cuddly, pretty eyed boy - we love you so much.
