Payson Lakes

Another nap, another post! Last weekend we had ourselves a little BBQ at Payson Lakes. Tierra and Cortlen were visiting from Idaho, so I decided it'd be fun to do something out of the house. The lake sounded like a pretty good idea. We extended an invite to Shi and Kody and I'm so glad they could come! The weather forecast was nice and warm, so we figured it'd be fun to BBQ and go swimming. When we got there, however, it was super cloudy and quite breezy, sooo we didn't end up getting in the cold water haha. We still had a fun time chatting, eating, and posing with a pretty scenery.

Side note: I am fully aware that I am that person that takes waaaay too many pictures. But if I'm being honest, that's why I have this blog. I like looking back and remembering all of the details. I also like taking pretty pictures of the people I love. So with that being said, here's a picture recap of our day.

^^ Notice the clouds lol

Little man was tuckered out by the end. Emmett loved hanging with his aunts and uncles, but I'm sure he'll enjoy it even more once he gets some cousins out of these peeps ;) After the lake, Shi and Kody headed downtown for a play and the rest of us drove to Kaysville to have dinner at Jason's moms. Jason and Tierra's grandparents were in town and they wanted to meet their great grandson! Once we finished up with dinner and some card games, Jason / Tierra / Cortlen / Emmett / myself finished off the night with some coldstone to celebrate Cort's birthday! It was YUMMMMY. Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter and reeses mixed in has got to be my new favorite. {I've been on this peanut butter craze lately haha.} Such a fun day!

3 Months

We have a three month old! HOW?? Emmett's finally starting to smile more! He gets the biggest grin when he sees his reflection in the mirror. It's the cutest. thing. ever. He loves being held up so he can stand on his cute chunky legs. He enjoys starting off the day in his swing watching 'Super Simple Songs' on youtube, which gives his mama about 30-45 minutes to get ready / eat breakfast / wash dishes / do laundry or whatever in the morning. Emmett is getting better at controlling his limbs, so toys are finally becoming more interesting to him now that he can grab and hit them. He found his hands and likes to keep them clasped together most of the time. He nurses best laying down and sleeps best when he's next to someone, so he ends up in our bed most nights {which usually means dad ends up on the spare mattress}. Little man still spits up like crazy, but it doesn't phase him in the slightest. He is growing and learning SO much, SO fast. We cannot get enough of this sweet boy!

Trip to CO

PHEW. Finally found a minute to get on here. About this time yesterday Emmett blessed me with a three hour nap in which I was able to tidy the house, read, and relax a bit. I'm hoping his current nap is another one of those *fingers crossed* so I can get a post or two done.

Back on May 22nd, Emmett and I hitched a ride with Shilo and Kody out to Colorado. They were mainly going to attend the Air Force Academy graduation, and I was going to avoid spending another uneventful week cooped up in the house. I was nervous taking Emmett on his first long road trip, but he handled it like a champ! He slept probably seven of the eight hour car ride and we only had to stop once in Grand Junction on the way there. HALLELUJAH.

While we were there we...

went to the Denver Zoo with Lynnea and Evie,
shopped & shopped at Park Meadows and the outlets,
celebrated Kody's 22nd birthday,
went to the Taylor Swift concert with Hailey (well I did, Emmett stayed home with gigi),
ate ice cream at Rita's,
spent quality time with the fam,
& video chatted with Jason lots.

This was the longest Jason and I have been apart since we've been married, and the first time he's ever had to be away from his baby boy. We sure missed our daddy!

^^ Kody has the magic touch!

The concert was AMAZING. By far one of the coolest experiences ever. A girl in Hailey's ward had an extra ticket, so I got to tag along FOR FREE. Keep in mind, these were $400 seats - we were SO CLOSE. I was freaking out that Taylor Swift, one of the most famous singers of our time, was only a couple yards away from us !!! I obviously took lots of video haha. I'm sooooo grateful that my mama was willing to watch Emmett while I had a late night out. She's the best gigi.

^^ Emmett's first time at the zoo

Hanging with grandpa. I love these guys!

That about sums up our trip! Perfect timing too... Emmett's just waking up. Only 2 1/2 hours until dad gets home :)))
