Park City

There's probably ten different things I could/want to blog about, but let's be real, this mama don't got time for that! So I'm going to get right to the good stuff and maybe hold back a bit on the commentary. On October 10th, we drove up to Park City to spend the week with my family. My dad had a saaa-weet hook up through his work, so we got to stay in a nice, cozy 2.2 million dolla home. It. Was. Awesome. While we were there we played lots of mexican train, explored downtown, squeezed everyone in the maybe not so sanitary hot tub, roasted marshmallows around the fire, cleaned messy babies, decorated candy houses, got hair cuts, relaxed in the steam shower, ate yummy meals, and enjoyed the time we all got to spend together.

Obsessed with these two.

^^ He's so proud of his legs lol

^^ This was our last night. Me and my boys had to leave a day earlier than expected due to a not-so-expected job offer Jason received... in Alabama. We booked a last minute flight for the next day so we could see the area before accepting or rejecting the offer. I'll share more about that in a separate post. Austin had a job interview in Washington this same week, so Britta and the kids flew out a couple hours after us to scope out that area. What horrible timing! We all would have much rather spent another day in Park City. Since we left early, we missed out on seeing my Goldsberry grandparents, my cousin Meredith, and her sweet baby girl. I love that so much of the family was able to get together during this trip!

Love. These. People. I'm already so excited for the next family vacay!

7 Months

GUYS. I blinked and my baby turned into a seven month old! I seriously can't believe it. Emmett has become quite the busy body this month. He started crawling and is now more curious than ever. He's already so determined to climb the stairs... and he's close to figuring it out! DARN. Besides the stairs, his favorite spot to crawl is under the bouncer. Now that he's mobile, he can't be stopped! Emmett is a solid sitter and now sits up in his stroller and in shopping cart seats. He takes two 30ish minute naps a day in his crib and makes no noise when he wakes up, so I constantly have to check the nursery cam to see if he's awake. He sits up and stares straight at the camera until I come get him. It's funny and sometimes creepy! Little man has two bottom teeth, and his top two teeth are just starting to break through. He sometimes surprises me with those sharp lil teethies when I nurse him :,(  Boy can chomp! I'm not ready to stop nursing quite yet, however. Emmett is currently loving banana oatmeal and hating all pureed veggies. He had his first finger foods this month - puffs and veggie straws. He's a {messy & uncoordinated} fan of both. Emmett thinks daddy's light-up gaming keyboard is soooo funny. Nothing has made him laugh harder than that thing! He also gets a kick out of us singing 'baaabbbbyyy... SHARK' to him. We couldn't be more obsessed with our squishy tushie boy!

XXV

I'm a quarter of a century. WEIRD. I feel like the last five years flew right past me! It made me think of the lyrics, "Don't blink. Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap. You wake up and you're twenty-five ... Don't blink. A hundred years goes faster than you think." Couldn't be more true.

My birthday was on September 29th. Emmett and I attended a baby shower that morning for my cousin-in-law, Courtney. Her and Hunter are welcoming baby girl Oakley in December and I couldn't be more excited for them! Shout out to my aunt Angela for hosting the shower and making everything so cute! I'm still dreaming about the 'nothing bundt cake' we had for dessert haha.

After the shower, I came home to this.

Because I know my husband, I wasn't expecting much. I've learned to not set expectations because he's not really the flower giving / gift wrapping / card writing type as I've come to find over the years. However, he's learning that it's that kind of stuff makes me feel special, thought of, and appreciated. Know your love languages, people! Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door. I will admit that I made Jason a wish list on Amazon of things I would like, so he kind of had it easy there... but the flowers, the card, and the wrapping were all him. I couldn't stop smiling.

That evening we made plans to go out and celebrate kid-free with my Utah siblings. So grateful that grandma Debi was willing to come over and hang with our Emmett boy. She's the sweetest!

Our night out consisted of top golf, chips/queso/salsa/guac, and mo' bettahs hawaiian style. Perfect way to celebrate! After dinner, we picked up our babies and headed over to Austin and Britta's for a late, late night of jackbox tv games. I'm pretty sure all the boys were in tears from laughing so hard hahaha. On our way home Jason told me that was the hardest he's laughed in a longgg time. I think this day takes the cake as my favorite birthday yet!

Thank you to everyone who made me feel so loved!!!

It's a Pike Party

It's October 1st! Which pretty much means fall, pumpkins, sweatshirts, and halloween! All my favs. I may or may not have stayed up until 2 am last night trying to find a fun family costume idea. I'm pretty sure I found the perfect costumes. Now to convince Jason ;)

This weekend was a fun one! We attended a wedding reception Friday evening and Saturday was my birthday {which I'll share in a separate post} !!! The reception was celebrating Haven and James Pike. I've known Haven and her family for forever from growing up in the same church ward, so their reception was filled with lots of familiar Colorado faces. Emmett was instantly the center of attention when we arrived lol. So many people wanted to snuggle him and I'm sure Emmett was lovin' it. That boy loves attention and new faces! The reception was held in a huge and  g o r g e o u s  backyard. It was a hike to even get to the party. They served cheese, meat, crackers, veggies, bread & oil, and bundt cakes! Mmm, my kind of party.

^^ Seriously look at that crowd! Emmett loved hanging with his new buddies.

Emmett started getting fussy the later it got. Before heading out I took him out on the dance floor to see if it would change his mood. It did! There's nothing a little music and dancing can't fix. We had such a fun time!

Congrats to the happy couple!
