THE DAY HAS COME. We are finally in our house after the longest nine months of our lives! It feels so dang good. We're just about all settled in and it's starting to feel more like home everyday. I am a little desperate to fill up some of these empty walls and rooms, though. Patience, lex. Tierra and Cortlen were in town the week we made our big move which was truly the biggest blessing. I don't know how I would have managed to get anything done with Emmett while Jason was at work during the days. They helped us pack, deep clean the apartment, babysit, move, unpack, organize, and clean some more. Not exactly how I would choose to spend my vacation! They're the best.
Tierra and I were both 20+ weeks pregnant at the time, so we weren't the most helpful when it came to unloading the truck. While the boys did the heavy lifting, I mopped the floors & snapped some final product pictures and Tierra entertained Emmett.
I'M IN LOVE WITH IT.
Our yard, on the other hand, I'm not so in love with. One of these days it will be beautiful and green and fenced and landscaped. The sod was sooo dry and dead by the time we closed on the house {probably due to the fact that it didn't see one drop of water the first week after being laid}. We mentioned that we didn't think it was in acceptable condition and put it on our warranty list, but they said it is something that wouldn't be replaced for up to a year. We're trying our best to revive it with our little hose sprinkler, but it's not doing much. We didn't install a sprinkler system because we were told by multiple peeps in the area that it's not necessary for this type of grass and it typically rains pretty regularly. Well not this summer! It's been 90+ degrees and sunny since the day we moved in. So anyways, we may be living with a dead, brown lawn for the next year. Yaaaaay. That's not embarrassing at all! On the bright side, the backyard is huge and half of it is already fenced at no charge to us. Thanks neighbors ;)
We ended the day at our place with Tierra, Cortlen, Ryan, Karlie, and some celebratory pizza. The cleaning ladies that were supposed to come earlier that morning showed up right as dinner arrived, so we took our pizza party to the garage. It was hot. It was humid. Sweat was rolling. But we were so happy to be done that we didn't even care!
And that's a wrap! I'm so, so, soooo glad that all of this is behind us now. I'll do another update soonish showing the place with furniture. That's the fun stuff to see in my opinion haha. Now that we have all this space, we figured we should fill it a little more. We have a precious baby girl kicking away in my belly as I type. Time to shift our focus from the house to preparing for her arrival in a few short months!
Love your house! I'm so glad you guys are finally IN!
