Can someone please tell me where the past year has gone??? My Brielle baby is ONE and I just don't know how that happened. She was basically attached to my hip the whole time and I still feel like I missed it somehow. Siiiigh. Time is such a thief. I was really good at documenting Emmett's first year of life, so I'm going to dedicate a separate blog post specifically for that. But right now I want to focus on Brielle's birthday... and New Years Eve since those two things will now always be a pair.
We didn't do too much on Brielle's actual birthday because her party was planned for that weekend. We celebrated with some Smash Burger for dinner and picked up a box of grocery store cupcakes on the way home. Brielle was honestly just happy to have some balloons to play with and a cupcake before bed. If I could go back I would have done a combined birthday/New Years party because somehow I ended up hosting a New Years Eve get together anyway with all the same people that were coming to her party!!! It was a last minute thing after all the kids went to bed, but I really didn't care to host two parties in the same week. Welp, lesson learned I guess. We rang in the New Year that night with friends, appetizers, and jackbox tv. The kids slept through it up until all the neighborhood fireworks started going off at midnight. I'm pretty sure every sleeping kid in the neighborhood cried-in 2021!
Brielle's party was on January 2nd. That evening we had the Collins, Hoggard's, Ballard's, and other Paull's over. I wanted to keep it simple, so pizza and store bought cupcakes it was! I have a feeling it's always going to be that way and I'm okay with that. Karlie offered to make Brielle's smash cake and I gladly accepted. She did such a good job!!
^^ Haven't changed this letter board since the day our girl was born.
The aftermath. I'm actually surprised Brielle didn't get more into it! She typically doesn't mind getting messy and loves to eat anything sweet. I had high hopes, but so far I'm 0/2 on cake smashers haha. It was such a fun evening celebrating our girl!!
I took her one year old pictures the following day. Not gonna lie, I'm always a tiny bit relieved when I'm done taking those. It's quite the task getting photos every month that first year! But totally worth it, obviously.
This is the moment she realized it was waaay too cold to be outside.
While I was busy taking pictures, Emmett helped himself to one of Brielle's birthday gifts hahaha.
Happy Birthday, Brielle baby!!
We love you so much.

Happy first Birthday to Brielle!! Her expressions are priceless ♥ And I love that Emmett got to enjoy her sucker!
