Emmett and I took a trip to Utah a couple weeks back to (1) meet baby Jack and (2) spend some quality time with our favorite Utah people that we miss so so so much. Our flights there and back were early. Like wake up at 2:45 am early. But hey, you do what you gotta do for a good deal! We were able to fly round trip for less than $100. Worth it.
^^ This sums up how we were feeling that early Wednesday morning. Emmett was wide awake as we cruised around the airport, but he ended up sleeping the majority of both flights with minimal freak outs. That's a traveling mama's dream!
We stayed with Britta while we were there which worked out great since Hailey only lives about ten minutes from her. I obviously couldn't wait to meet and snuggle baby Jack, so Emmett and I headed over there not long after we arrived.
Jack is perfect. And so so so tiny. I completely forgot how small those newborns can be! My ovaries couldn't handle the cuteness and I decided that I needed another one SOON. I've already got Jason on board with the idea, we just need to move into our house first.......
Britta wanted to meet the little guy as well, but Ellis and Scarlett were dealing with some pretty bad coughs and an ear infection. So we left her sick kiddos home with dad one evening and took over dinner, gifts, and crumbl cookies to the new parents. We're big fans of 'crumbl' by the way, but decided that 'Chip' has them beat with their biscoff cookie. Yummiest thing ever. We indulged in a few too many cookies with way too many calories that week haha.
THIS BOY. I can't get enough!
Grandma Debi stopped by on Saturday afternoon to see her grandbaby. Emmett was showing off and walking alllll over the place for her. I still can't believe my baby boy is walking! It was so good to see Debi and I'm glad she was willing to make the long drive from Kaysville to Eagle Mountain to see us {since we were car-less}.
Oh I have a funny story I want to share for memory's sake! Those who have been around Emmett know that he is a loud pooper. He usually braces himself on something and grunts over and over until he's finished with his business. He has no shame! It makes me laugh almost every time, but I've always hoped it wouldn't happen in a quiet, public place... like church. WELL, it happened. In front of the entire relief society of a ward I was visiting. Emmett braced himself on the empty chair right next to the sister teaching at the front of the room. She was getting really emotional talking about a family death {if I remember correctly} and all of a sudden... grunt... grunt... fart... grrrunnnt... poop. The whole room started laughing! I embarrassingly ran up and grabbed him, holding back tears in my eyes from trying not to laugh-cry, and rushed him out of the room. It was so funny. But I felt a little bad for the lady teaching. He stole the room's attention at the worst possible time! Hahaha.
On Monday we had a girls night so Hailey could have a little baby-free girl / friend / adult time. {From my own experience, that really is so needed! Especially for new moms with wacky postpartum hormones. Your life literally changes overnight and sometimes you just need a couple of hours to feel like your old self.} Britta and I squeezed the kids in the car and went to target to buy some snacks for our evening.
^^ Emmett wasn't lovin' the car seat situation lol.
After our {almost two hour} target run, we met up with Hailey at Chubby's and enjoyed some yummy burgers, pork sandwiches, beer-battered fries and scones. We put the little ones to bed as soon as we got back from dinner and had the rest of the night kid-free and to ourselves! Shilo and Hailey came over and the four of us snacked and chatted and stayed up way too late watching the bachelor. I sure do love those ladies... and am missing them as I type this!
Shilo and Kody were so soo sooooo kind and drove me and Emmett to the airport at 3 am that Tuesday morning. We seriously owe them big time! They have helped us immensely on more than one occasion. I'm so happy that I got to spend lots of quality time with my utah sisters! Shilo's a busy gal with cosmetology school and work, but she still made it a priority to come spend time with us whenever she was able to that week. Even if that meant playing hooky from school for a day ;)
And just like that, we were back in Colorado. Our week in Utah went by too fast! I'm already looking forward to my next trip out there in April with my mama and sisters. We are having a kid-free girls weekend in Salt Lake and I'm so so so so so excited for it. I haven't had even one day away from Emmett since the moment he was conceived!!!
