Honk Honk! Beep Beep!

Despite my best efforts to keep him a baby, Emmett decided to turn one anyways :,) We celebrated his first year of life with a fun car themed birthday party. There really was no better theme for our boy. He loves his cars! On the invitation it said, Start your engines and shift into gear, join us as we celebrate Emmett's first year! I'm so happy that we had some family and friends nearby to come party with us.

Here's a little run down of the decor, cakes, food, and more.

Would you believe me if I told you I made that balloon garland with packaging tape, a hole punch, and a couple packets of balloons? So simple, yet soooo festive! I'm sure there will be more balloon arches in my future lol.

^^ A fitting gift, don't ya think?

Funny story about this cake. ^^ I spent an excruciating amount of time frosting the dang thing earlier that morning. I couldn't get the piping just right which led to me scraping huge mounds of frosting off the top over and over and over. I was getting frustrated and a little overwhelmed, so Jason came over and said, "Let me do it." At that point I thought, 'What the heck. It's ruined anyways.' Jason finished it off with some not-so-symmetrical frosting mounds and we called it good. I'm reluctantly learning from my husband that things don't always need to be perfect. The cake was still delicious and that's all that really matters.

On the menu we had ham and cheese sliders {find my mama's yummy recipe here}, fruit salad, tater-tot kabobs, a variety of veggies, IBC rootbeer, and cake of course. My picky little Emmett decided that the cheesy tater-tots would suffice for his dinner.

Alright, enough party details. Where's the birthday boy at?!?!

Ah that's better. This post just got a whole lot cuter!

This is Emmett's main girl, Josie. Her mom and I go waaaay back.

I'm a little bummed that the indoor lighting was not great that evening {and that I've yet to really figure out my camera settings} so a good chunk of what would have been cute pictures turned out blurry. Booooo.

Emmett got this fun tunnel from gigi and grandpa and boy does he love that thing! Him and Evie were cracking up playing and chasing each other in it. They are so so so cute.

I didn't have high hopes of Emmett diving into his smash cake. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, that boy is PICKY with what he puts in his mouth. The only way we were able to get him to smash the cake was with his car. Evie and Josie didn't mind helping him out though - they were allll over that frosting!

Happy Birthday Emmett James {and gigi} !!!
We love you with all our hearts.
