TWO

It happened. My baby turned two. He is officially a toddler and I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. Emmett is so much fun, but the terrible twos are definitely starting to kick in! Tantrums and time outs happen on the daily around here. We're workin' on some things haha. Emmett doesn't talk a ton, but he is still one smart little cookie. He knows his shapes, colors, and can tell you any number or letter of the alphabet. He knows how to count to twenty, count backwards from ten, and even count on his fingers! Some of his first sentences were, "I'm so happy." "I'm so sad." and "Oh I love dinosaurs. RAWR!" Emmett's currently obsessed with dinosaurs and can even name most of them! Tyrannosaurus.. triceratops.. stegosaurus.. pterodactyl.. diplodocus. He also acts and rawrs like a dinosaur all day everyday. It's adorable. He loves being around friends, but is also very independent. Nap time no longer exists and I've just come to accept that fact. He's still very, very, very picky. Meals are and always have been a struggle, so snack foods are what he typically eats. This boy would live outside if we let him! He loves throwing rocks and cannot pass by a dog without stopping to pet it.  Emmett is so cuddly with mommy and baby sis. He is such a sweet big brother to Brielle and can make her smile. My favorite things he says are, "Ohhhh yeah!" "Oh noooo." and "Mommy, mommy!" That cute little voice just melts my heart. Jason and I talk about Emmett every single night after he goes to sleep. We can't get enough of this big kid!

We had an early, low-key birthday celebration for Emmett while his grandparents were in town. I always thought that I'd be the mom to go alllll out for birthday parties and have them planned weeks in advance, but I had to cut myself a little slack this year. Brielle's blessing was also that weekend and I put more of my very little energy towards that. I promise you'll have an awesome dinosaur themed party with lots of friends next year buddy! It was still a fun evening filled with pizza, cupcakes, ice cream, presents, games, family, and friends. We made sure to invite the Collin's over since their two little boys are Emmett's best buds. It's so convenient that we're neighbors!

On March 2nd, Emmett turned two! I'm just now realizing that it was his golden birthday.. how did I miss that?! Jason came home from work with a balloon, m&m's, and a radio flyer tricycle for our boy. Emmett was thrilled! He couldn't stop smiling as he 'helped' daddy put it together while munchin' on some m&m's.

Any time I referred to it as his bike, Emmett would correct me by saying "tricycle!"

He's ready to roll!

I'm trying my best to soak him all up! I love this stage he's in. I didn't realize it at the time, but Emmett actually wore this same jacket on his first birthday too haha. Feel free to reminisce here.

Happy Birthday, Emmett!!
We love love love love you.

  1. Emmett has the most heart-melting smile! I loved seeing how happy he was with his tricycle... there's something about a red Radio Flyer tricycle that makes ME happy, too :)
