Back in 'Bama

I am trying soooo hard to find the motivation to write this post right now. Maybe if I just start writing it'll come together haha. On December 9th, Emmett and I flew out to Alabama to be reunited with our favorite person ever. I was so so so nervous flying solo with Emmett. My dad was my hero that day - he helped us through security, escorted me and Emmett to the airport gate, and kept our little buddy happy for TWO HOURS while we waited to board the plane. I don't think he knows the weight that he lifted off my shoulders that day. So thankful for him!

Emmett did better than I anticipated he would on the flight. He napped for a while and was giving lots of smiles to the people around us. I only had to deal with one little freak out when he was trying to fall asleep. We were both sooooo happy to see our daddy once we landed in Huntsville. Emmett and Jason and me couldn't stop smiling :) :) :) 

A big reason why Emmett and I visited when we did was so that I could attend the design meeting for our home. I wasn't really on board with the idea of my husband making all of the design decisions haha ;) The meeting was long. Like four hours long. We owe a huge thank you to Karlie for babysitting Emmett on her day off! There were what seemed like a million choices on every little thing - brick, stone, shutters, paint, hardware, counter tops, cabinets, door knobs, appliances, lighting, windows, back splash, trim, tile, grout, hardwood, carpet, upgrades, etc, etc, etc. And if you know me, you KNOW that I'm probably the most indecisive person on the planet. After the meeting, I was second guessing basically every decision I made on the house. There is no going back now however! I'm sure I'm going to love it once it all comes together though. Here's a little sneak peak of our selections:

Our house is quite gray-themed. The pictures below have fairly similar selections to what we chose, so it gives us a pretty good idea of what the finished product will look like. (Ours will be this same model, just flipped.)

I couldn't help myself from driving around our soon-to-be neighborhood and future home place every chance I got. I drove by probably four or five times and took Emmett on multiple walks around the block. I'm sure anyone who saw me might have thought I was a little sketch since I was stopping to take pictures of basically every house... sorry for being creepy, neighbors!

^^ This house is the model we went with. I'm still having a hard time visualizing what ours will look like though because we chose a very different color scheme for the exterior {white trim, white garages, white columns, painted shutters, dark brick, lighter paint}.

I really do love the area. Lots of trees, open space, rolling hills, and cotton fields describe it nicely. Plus it's such a perk that Jason's work is only a ten minute, traffic-free, scenic drive away. Being back and knowing that this is where our babies will call home made me SO excited to move in and start our life here. I was very against the idea of moving at first, but now I feel much more confident that this is where we need to be.

Have you ever seen cuter bed head?!

We took a trip to Nashville with Ryan and Karlie one Saturday and stopped at a restaurant called Hogwood for lunch. None of us had ever been, but it had great reviews so we figured we'd try it out. It was so good!! Probably the yummiest barbecue meal I've ever eaten. They had a lot of fun soda flavors too and I was so tempted to try them all! If you're ever near Nashville, GO THERE.

I'm realizing that most of the pictures I took are when me and Emmett were just hanging around the house. Jason, Ryan, and Karlie are all working people, and I was car-less most days, so we spent the majority of the trip stuck inside in our pj's. However, we did get some workouts in at the YMCA, window shop at a mall in Nashville, eat dinner at Steak n' Shake, and attend a Christmas concert that Karlie was playing her violin in. 

The concert was held at a hugeee baptist church and babies weren't allowed in the concert hall, so we dropped Emmett off at the child care the church offered that evening. I was a little hesitant at first because... well I don't love the idea of strangers watching my baby. But their southern hospitality won me over and the big room of toys won Emmett over. I don't think he ever realized we left him! When we went to pick him up, he was crusin' around with two other babies in the 'bye-bye buggie'.  We got such a kick out of that thing! It's even funnier when said in a southern accent hahaha. It's basically a big three-rowed wagon with individual seats and baby straps. Emmett was lounging in the backseat when they rolled up and he looked chill as ever. It was so funny and too cute!

Jason came back to Colorado with us, so the flight home wasn't nearly as stressful and Emmett actually did great on the plane! He napped on mom, watched shows with dad, and flirted with the curly haired lady sitting in front of us. He smiled and laughed whenever she touched her hair or looked his way hahaha. The people around us were loving it and someone said, "He's already got a type!" Oh I love that boy.

Alright, it has now taken me nearly a week to finish this post. I'm going to wrap it up so it doesn't have to sit in my drafts any longer. Up next: Christmas!!!
